My List of Things I Find annoying about Final Fantasy
General
• Why do we only get Party’s of 3 or 4? Besides X were you can switch people in and out during battle, why don’t the other people participate? Are they just sitting back and waiting for everyone else to finish fighting/dying? I am waiting for when we finally get the game where everyone gets to participate in the battle.
• Cactuars and Tonberrys are annoying. Cactuars do a lot of damage in a short amount of time and Tonberrys give you very little experience.
• The Chocobos are starting to look more and more like Chickens then they already did.
• The Chocobo music is very annoying
• Multi target & battle bosses get real old real fast
• After doing several different side quest related to them, I officially hate Chocobo quests. Explained in each game relevant
• The difficult spike the occurs in some of the games after certain points.
• Blue magic. I hate that you have to get hit with it (in most cases) for you to learn it.
I
• I hoped you picked the right balance of characters, because you don’t get a chance to change them.
• The Final dungeon; bring a lot of potions because if you want to leave, you have to go through the scripted bosses again.
II
• Oh yes, that is a good way to start the game by having your party wiped out.
• Stop killing my fourth party member
• I HATE the stupid skill based experience system. I really don’t want to have raise my Max HP by getting damaged all the time.
• On that note, if you can’t get the right stats raised during the story, it makes much later battles so much more difficult.
III
• I hate the job system. Like with X-2 the fact you have to use the job to make it level up. This makes jobs you need under developed when you need them or make the game too long with job grinding.
• Why don’t the Guests ever do anything helpful when I really need them?
• Stupid Mognet. I don’t know anyone else with this game.
IV
• It’s nice that I get 5 party members for this but stop killing people to give me those new members.
• Augments. It would be nice to know that giving them to people would give you more later. Too bad you didn’t tell me that.
• Some of these side quests take forever. Trying to find that stupid flan drop for Nammingway took way to long for me.
• It’s nice that they are releasing a Complete Collection with After Years and an in between story, but are you really going to make me play through the main game again?
IV After Years
• I haven’t played it yet, mostly because I don’t like the idea of buying the game on the Wii and having to unlock the full story by paying for each chapter.
V
• Yet again, The stupid job system. The only thing that makes this better than the others is that by completing each job you get access to those powers in Freelancer and Mime class afterwards.
• While this didn’t happen to me, I don’t like the idea of if a character is KO’ed at the end of the final battle, they won’t appear in the ending like they are dead.
VI
• So many characters. I got all of them but I don’t think I used them all.
• So many summons too.
• Gau’s gimmick. I really don’t like having to go to the Veldt every time I want him to improve.
• The multi party dungeons can get very confusing.
• The difficulty spike on the Floating Continent gets its own mention as I was fine up until I reached that place.
• I don’t like that Reassembling the party is a whole world side quest.
VII
• [SPOILER ALERT] Why did they have to kill Aerith? She was basically the White Mage and that means you lose your best healer and why don’t they use a Phoenix Down? People are getting blown up, bitten, doomed, deathed, etc and Phoenix Downs bring them back. Why won’t it work on a stab wound in the stomach?
• The Materia system is just plain evil. It limits what spells you can have, how many times in battle you can cast a spell and something require the connection to work.
• [SPOILER ALERT] Why do you have to find your final limit breaks? By the time you find Aerith’s she only gets to use it for a very short amount of time before stabby-stabby.
• The Chocobo breeding for the Knights of the Round Materia takes forever. I did it once I swore I would never do it again.
• What is with all the optional Weapon Bosses? By the time you are strong enough to beat them, you should be able to bet the final bosses 5 times over.
• What is the deal with the moogle mini-game at the Gold Saucer? It doesn’t serve much of a purpose. The bike, sub and snowboard mini-games are there for if you like it the first time and want to play it again so that makes sense.
• Optional characters. Unless you know about them ahead of time they are easy to miss and leave you two people short for the final battles.
• Why are there three Bahamuts? (More if you look at the other FFVII material)
VIII
• Triple Triad. How many people actually played that game? It serves very little purpose and the rewards for do anything related to it are very minimal. Also why are there people who want to play during thing like prison break, school being attacked, time compressing?
• The magic and draw system can be very irritating. You can only cast spells a certain number of times before you have to draw them again. On top of that, if you have a spell junctioned to a stat, the stat will get weaker if you use the spell
• The summons, why do some of them have to be drawn? When I watch my step-dad play, he missed several summons because he didn’t draw. When he got to the Final Castle, he was very underdeveloped and couldn’t get through.
• The junction system. Nice idea but as I said, if you use a junctioned spell, the stat gets weaker. Take Ultima for example, Junction it to HP and you get a massive bonus. If you use the spell though, your max HP will go down.
• [SPOILER ALERT] Why do you lose all of your abilities when you enter the final castle? That is just plan annoying especially when you go up against the bosses to unlock the abilities again.
• The paired creatures on the space ship are annoying until you learn the secret to defeating them. Defeat one walk out of the room then walk back, “What the *BEEP*? I just beat you!”
• The limit breaks in this one only pop up when your health is low or you have Aura cast on you. “I am about to die, Oh look, I can use a limit break let’s do that instead of healing myself and then die from an attack from the boss immediately after.”
• Odin always shows up at the worst times. Same goes for Gilgamesh. They always seem to show up when you don’t need them.
• The Boost for GF’s can be a real pain on the thumb. Apparently if you have a turbo controller, this is much easier but I have never owned one.
IX
• When you get Dagger, you have access to all of the summons but not enough MP to summon any of them. After she loses them, you have to relearn all of them.
• You have to earn AP to learn magic, skills, etc and if you take off the equipment before you learn it, you lose the skill.
• The final boss felt forced, it seems like he had nothing to do with the plot and they just wanted to throw in some big guy that was not Kuja to try and beat you down.
• The Stellazio quest is very annoying if you miss one and can’t get to it till you ge the airship.
• I understand Dagger is having a crisis with her mother dying and the kingdom in ruins, but please don’t lose you focus in the middle of a boss fight.
X
• Square-Enix says it is pronounced Tee-Dus not Tai-Dus. Stop arguing about it please.
• I absolutely hate the Blitzball mini-game. I can never freaking win and that is the only way to get Wakka’s Ultimate Weapon.
• Why do you have to do so many different things to get and unlock the Ultimate Weapons? I hate the Chocobo game, the Blitzball game and all the other little mini-games involved in unlocking the weapons.
• Why is it that even if you can understand all of Al bhed, Tidus still acts like a moron at understanding them.
• The optional Aeons. Anima is awesome but why do you have to solve all those puzzles in each of the Trials?
• Seymour is a source of constant frustration for me. All the times I got stuck was on him. Mostly at Macalania Temple against Anima.
• The sphere grid was a nice idea but the fact that you need spheres to activate every node gets on my nerves. It can really hinder you ability to get stronger if you can activate the nodes. I feel that XIII finally perfected this system
X-2
• Why do you have to play through twice to get 100%? That is the most annoying thing every.
• The Dress Grid system is very annoy especially to get the Special Dressphere to activate.
• Stop making me choose sides please
• No summons. Instead, you have to fight all the summons.
• You have to use the dressphere to level it up.
• The detective mini-game has to be done a certain times or else you get a bad ending for it.
• Stop moving around the battle field and hold still.
• No more extra dungeons please.
• I liked moving around better Kilika when it was busted up.
• So many timed events it is impossible to know them all without a strategy guide.
X-2 After Starting Over
• I did find out that you actually can get 100% completion in one game but it requires a lot of side quest
• Via Infinito. Dear God I can’t tell if I hate this as much or more then the Chocobo breeding in VII. I really hate the final boss at the bottom too even with the Cat Nip Gunner trick.
• I have a different view on the Dress system since using abilities will make it go faster but it still takes forever to level Dresses up.
• I wish we got the Last Mission update.
• I hate the Chocobo side quest in this too since finding Chocobos who can level up to 5 is random.
• Digging for parts took forever since I kept finding useless junk.
XI (not played and probably never will)
• MMO. Never going to shell out $20 a month to play a game that never ends.
XII
• Summons are all different. Instead Shiva, Ifrit, etc are all airships.
• Why won’t the other characters do what I need them to do to help me in battle?
• Why is it so hard to level up?
• Too many enemies can swarm you at once. If your having trouble facing one, more are not helpful.
• I honestly hate just about everything in this game
XII After starting again
• I started a new game and took on everything I met that I could fight. I only got a little farther before the difficult spike I mentioned last time got me again.
• I managed to figure out the Gambit system but I would still like my characters to think on their own.
• I have found how to use the license board to my advantage too but its takes forever to get enough points to unlock things. Even with the AP boosting item.
XIII
• Why are we having monsters with HP over 500,000?
• The ratings at the end of the battles are making me feel slow. How do you expect me to win against a 3,300,000+ HP boss in less than 11 mins? (I took 20 mins.)
• No mini-games. (Although the little game of Hide and Seek with the Chocobo chick comes close)
• No way to go back to any place.
• Again I ask, why won’t the other characters do what I need them to do? Stop casting Cure and cast Esuna already. This Slow is getting me killed.
• Slow doesn’t show any visible effect on any opposition. They all still seem to attack me at the same speed even when Slow is in effect.
• Retry places you right on the boarder of where you are detected and where you are safe. If you managed to sneak up behind one before you were detected, you are placed in a very bad spot to try and run away.
• The final stage of the Crystarium is unlocked after you beat the game. Really?
• Gil is actually very rare to come across in this game.
• Why only 5 TP?
• I have barely used the summons at all since it seems that they don’t do much to help in the battle. ( I have to admit though that the opening to Ch. 12 is very impressive with all of them)
Dissidia
• Gets really repetitive, really fast.
• Why are we seeing some of the story scenes out of order?
• What is with the pieces that are stronger then the boss when you go back through a story?
• Some of the characters are really hard to use (Mine are II,III & VI)
• Summons have very little affect on battle.
Crisis Core
• Why is Zack still able to do missions for Shinra when he is trying to run away from them?
• When you level up is mostly up to luck. (There is an invisible exp meter that will determine when it will allow you to even have a chance to level up)
• Only one person in battle, Zack
• Why is everyone growing a single Wing out their back?!?!?!
• VII story was fine, stop trying to copy it into a prequel. Not everyone has to have a connection to Jenova
Dirge of Cerberus
• This more movie then actual game. There were some nights I played it and spent most of the time watching the cut scenes rather than playing levels.
• I went through the whole game without using magic. I hate that I kept getting a D in the level report.
• The one mission in Midgar (before the Shinra Building) where you have the option of trying to save the WRO members annoys me because there is a point where a Heavy soldier blows up two WRO members right when I turn a corner.
• I have to shoot capsules in-game to unlock the ability to watch the cut scenes from that level?
